Hola El Bambino

So, I have been talking with some people and thought that this is probably the best way to keep everyone of my firends and family involved and updated on what's going on with me and the baby!

I guess I should start off by telling everyone that I am officially 15 weeks and 6 Days today- by doctor standards. I think I'm a week or two behind them, but for purposes made simple...we'll go with 15 weeks 6 Days today :)

I know everyone has a lot of questions to ask me about this pregnancy and I'll try to answer all of them for you! I'm sure some of you have heard some sort of story about how this happened and it may be correct or it may not be! If you heard it from me or the Family, yeah it's probably right! I'm not going to get into much of it here, but just, please feel free to ask me anything! I won't bite!

Anyways, for some good news! I have gotten tested for down-syndrome and trisomy 18, which are chromosomal abnormalities that your baby could have. Basically, you go in for a First Trimester screening where they give you an ultrasound (SO COOL!!!) and then a simple blood test. Then they send your stuff out to specialists and they come back and give you an esitmate on how likely it is that your child could have either abnormality. Welp, mine came back perfect! Which is amazing news! They told me that the chance of my baby having either down syndrome or trisomy 18 was 1 in 10,000- and that's the highest they go! So, the results were basically negative for both of the abnormalities and that is just wonderful news!

When I went there (Maternal Fetal Medicine-Community North) to get the ultrasound, I couldn't believe everything I could see. It was so amazing and precious and everything you could imagine- all in one picture basically. I could see the baby's heartbeat- which is very stong and healthy, I could see the arms, legs, body, spine, head/face. I saw it moving around. I saw the baby sticking it's tounge out, opening and closing it's mouth (Practicing how to swallow and suck already...crazy, I know!). I will post those pics on here for everyone to see! They are really neat- and at this time the baby was just about 3 months- and only about 2-3 inches long and about 1 once in weight!

I went to the Doctor's office for a routine check-up on Thursday (2/25/10), where I found out probably the most exciting news yet....Next appointment, April 1st, 2010 I get to find out the SEX of the baby!!! YAY!! I can't wait to know if this little nugget inside of me is a little boy or a little girl! Then the shopping will officially begin! Also, if anyone is wondering what my Doctor's name is it's Dr. Karen West- with Kiley and Henderzahs practice. She is amazing and I couldn't have asked for better doctors through this entire pregnancy. And that also goes for my family doctor and staff (Dr. Thomas Yerks)- they were amazing when I first found out that I was pregnant- and I was obviously a wreck trying to figure everything out!

I guess, that's about all for now- EXCEPT I forgot to tell everyone the due date! Which of course is a huge deal! So, the baby is expected to be arriving on August 21st, 2010!!! So, be ready for a call around that time!

And last, but certainly not least. I really want to thank everyone in my family and my friends for being so supportive and helpful through this time. I've had a lot of emotions running through me and you have all helped me out beyond words... So thanks again and I hope you are all excited! I'll try and not be to needy while preggers! LOVE YOU!

  1. Wow, That's great news. Now remember, don't let early morning sickness ruin your pregnancy experience. Always have some home remedy ready. For starters, try ginger ale. It's effective fore getting rid of nausea.
