WEEK 27!!!

New News!

Your baby weighs about two pounds and is about 12 to 15 inches long, about the size of a small pot roast. If your baby were born now, he would have an excellent chance (85 percent) of surviving. He still isn't fully formed and would probably not be able to breath by himself. He would need to stay in an incubator to keep his body temperature regulated, and he would have a weak liver and immune system. (Fact: Babies have more taste buds at birth than they will have later in life. Newborns can sniff out and tell the difference between their mother's milk and someone elses.)

Baby's lungs are going through some major developments these days, which (combined with the opening of previously plugged nostrils) means he's now able to practice inhaling and exhaling. The lack of air in your womb means every "breath" is filled with amniotic fluid, but hey -- it's progress.

Went to the doctor on Friday for my Glucose test (which wasn't as bad as I expected-thank god) and hopefully I passed!!! If I didn't, then I have to go back for a 4 hour test :( I'm sure I will find out at my next appointment, which is Friday, June 4th how I did! Now I start going to the doctor every 2 weeks until the last month when I'll go every week! His heartbeat was really good and strong and he's definitely growing rapidly. I've gained 6 pounds in 3 weeks! And now I'm lathering up on the lotion/stretch mark cream so that I don't get any stretch marks- which haven't started to showed yet- amen! He's also been a little laid back during the week, but on the weekends he kicks and kicks! I think he's getting big and there isn't as much room for him to move around anymore. Other than that-not much more to report. Indy 500 next weekend, which I'm excited about. I plan on going to race which should be fun! And, it will mark the first week of my 3rd Trimester!!! Thanks for reading!

So, I have to add on from last night. I of course couldn't fall asleep last night- So HOT! and neither could the baby. I finally did and then woke up to use the restroom (at 2 and 4:30). At 4:30 when I woke up, I felt/saw a huge buldge coming from my right rib cage area (probably a head!). haha I thought he was definitely moving around the whole night (apparently flipping...). Needless to say, I feel as if I have been punched in the lung/rib cage by a 240lb man ahah. He's gonna be a big boy! He's been wired all day already too! I love it though!!! Can't wait to meet Mr. Squirmer!

Also, I spoke with my Doctor and found out that I PASSED my glucose test!!! Yay! However, they found out that I'm slightly anemic and now have to take a daily Iron pill- which she said is pretty normal during pregnancy. So, that will be started tomorrow!

WEEK 26!!!!!!!

New News!

This week marks a major milestone in your baby's hearing and sight. Your baby's hearing system (cochlea and peripheral sensory end organs), which began fine development during week eighteen, is now completely formed, and over the next few weeks, he'll become increasingly sensitive to sound. In about a month, you'll feel him jump if he hears a sudden loud noise. Sound passes easily into your uterus, which helps his ears develop. His eyes are almost fully formed. Did you know that all babies have blue eyes in the womb, no matter what their genetic inheritance is? A baby's eyes don't get their final color until a few months after they are born. The air sacs of the lungs, called alveoli, will be developed by the end of this week and will begin to secrete a substance called surfactant that keeps the lung tissue from sticking together.

Between now and week 29 your baby will have a growth spurt and gain another pound. As your baby grows, space gets tighter inside the womb. Your baby now measures about 12.8 inches tall and probably weighs almost 2 pounds.

Most of this weight is bone and tissue because he still doesn't have much body fat. In fact the main development of body fat doesn't really occur until late in the third trimester.

Developments that occur this week:

  • Eyelashes. These begin to grow as your baby begins to blink and open his eyes.
  • More hair. Hair continues to grow on his head.
  • Spine. To support his growing body, your baby’s spine is getting stronger and more flexible.
  • Plumping up. Although he hasn't put on much fat, he is beginning to look a little plumper.
Well, he is definitely 2 pounds already- if not bigger-is my guess. I know this, because every week/every day I get bigger and bigger! Apparently I'm supposed to gain a pound a week this month-and I think I have! He was a little calm this week until this morning and then decided he wanted me to wake up by kicking me really hard over and over again! I have another Doctor's appointment this week (Friday) where I get my Glucose Test done. I heard it's gross, but oh well. It will check to see if I have gestational diabetes while I'm pregnant. Let's pray that I don't! I've been trying to eat healthy and walk everyday so that doesn't happen! After this appointment I will start to go to the Doctor every 2 weeks and then in the last month, I go every week. Time is really starting to fly by and he will be here sooner than we know! I'm so excited, yet terrified, to meet him! Other than that, there isn't much to report. We've almost got my "new" room ready, but still need to work on the nursery (Once mom comes...) though! Thanks for reading!

New News!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!

Head to heels, your baby now is 13 1/2 inches long. His weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but he's beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat. As he does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he'll start to to look more like a newborn. He's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day today! Today Alyssa and I went to Mamaw Linda's and Papaw Jack's and then to the Agnelneri's house for the holiday. We both had a wonderful time- and ate ourselves silly as well- so thank you! Baby news- I registered at Target baby this week- that was fun to go through everything with Alyssa! While we were there I picked up some maternity clothes as well because I'm starting to grow out of every other normal thing I own. I estimating that this child is now about 2 pounds. So, he's growing fast and furious! I really can't wait to see him when he comes out! Now that he has hair- If we could see it I would guess that it's very dark brown hair and hopefully thicker like Austin's and not as thin like mine! Other than that I don't have much to report. He's still as active as ever- I think he's more active when I'm around guys than girls though (he's shy around the women!). Which I find very interesting- I don't know if there is really any truth to that or not, or if I just started to notice it and am making it all up in my head. Anyway, I hope everyone had a great weekend and I will return next week- for week 26! Geeze, time is FLYING by!!! He'll be here so soon!

WEEK 24! (Start of Month 6)

New News!

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon. Baby's skin is becoming more opaque as the fat starts to pack on. And, thanks to the formation of small capillaries, her newly thick skin is taking on a fresh pink glow.

Well, he is definitely getting bigger now! Everyday I get more and more excited to meet him. He is such an angel already and I love him so much and just can't wait for him to be in my arms. I went to the doctor on Thursday and everything was perfect. He had a strong heartbeat and is gaining weight on time. I've also officially gained 10 pounds- I would've thought more, but hey, I figure that will come with time. Next appointment is on May 21st where I get my Glucose Test done to make sure that I don't have gestational diabetes (which they perform on every pregnant women). So, that will be a slightly longer appointment.

Whitney and I went down to Bloomington today for the Coach Hep Cancer Challenge and had a really good time- we did the 2k family walk with everyone there. We got to see a bunch of the coaches and some old players as well. After that I went to the ChiO house and saw all of the girls! That was super exciting as well and really great to see all of them. I want to thank them for all of their support-they've been great! Then went and visted with some others. It so far has been a great weekend! That's about all for this week, but keep reading! Thanks!
